This scheme works in much the same way as Rent to HomeBuy, except that you’re not committed to buying the home that you rent. Instead, it is an assured shorthold tenancy where rent charged is normally 20% to 30% lower than what you would expect to pay for a similar home in a similar area if you were renting from a private landlord.
You could use the reduction to save towards a deposit on an affordable home, but there is no guarantee that you will be able to buy the property you live in.
Generally Intermediate Rent is a great housing option for people who are not ready to commit to buying a home or who have difficulty securing a mortgage at the moment.
